Oftentimes, we are left confused by how to study for certain subjects. The content for each subject is so diverse so there is no "one size fits all" approach. Here are a few strategies you can look to!
As we progress in grade levels, studying seems to become more complicated, leading us to this dilemma where we are unsure on how to actually study. Everyone learns differently and finding what works for you and the learning style that you resonate with closely can help build a ladder out of this dilemma!
Start by figuring out how you learn best. By experimenting and pinpointing which learning style best suits you, you can design and decide upon which strategies to use! Based on your learning style, you can then look into the many study techniques, including active recall, flashcards, the Feynman technique, mnemonics, etc. Each of these study techniques has its use cases, with some specializing in memorization, while others are great techniques to tie all concepts together. Experimenting with these techniques and learning styles can help find your means of effectively studying! Note-taking strategies can also help you study more effectively. Good notes should be concise, understandable to your eyes, and a means of connecting all concepts together so that you understand content on a deeper level. Try using charts, visuals, and mind maps to level up your notes.
While techniques are important, the physical atmosphere we study in is just as crucial. Ensure that you are studying in an environment that is quiet and equips you with all necessary resources. Set devices away and use productivity apps that stop you from scrolling on social media, so that you put all your focus on studying.
Finally, make studying more enjoyable by studying with friends and rewarding yourself! Studying can feel tedious and you can feel demotivated from not being able to effectively study. Experimenting with a few of these techniques and treating studying as less of a chore can help you achieve the most from your studying sessions!
